Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 moves from Premier Support into Extended Support on 30 November 2010 and there's some good (and some not so good news) for most organisations running this version.
What is Extended Support?
Extended Support provides you with an extra three years of support for specific Oracle releases for an additional fee.
When a product moves from Oracle Premier Support into Extended Support, you can pretty much expect the same level of support. Oracle will still assist with diagnosis, triage and debugging or any issues that you report and you will still have access to existing online support tools, knowledge base documentation and pre-existing fixes.
First for the Good News...
There is some recognition by Oracle that some companies maybe feeling the financial squeeze in the current climate. The additional support fees normally applied when a product moves from Premier Support to Extended Support are being waived until November 2011. Your support fees should therefore remain static for this product for until that time.
...And now for the Not So Good...
There are a new set of baseline patches which need to be applied by the end of November 2010 in order to receive any new bug fixes. New bug fixes will only be created for those environments where the minimum baseline patches have been met (or exceeded). If you report a new issue that requires a new bug fix, patches will only be released for the new baseline patches.
Are you Ready?
If Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10 is critical within your business we'd highly recommend that you assess the baseline patch requirements to prevent any unwelcome surprises next time you call upon Oracle Support.
